Soil Moisture Monitoring System


Effective soil moisture management is essential for optimizing plant health, water conservation, and agricultural efficiency. This advanced soil moisture monitoring system provides real-time data and remote control capabilities to support precision irrigation.

The system features four capacitive soil moisture sensors, strategically placed within a 3m square area, to provide accurate moisture level readings. These sensors communicate via license-free radio signals to a Wi-Fi gateway, which transmits the data securely to a UK-based server. Users can access the data and control the sensors through a secure, UK-hosted website.

Designed for continuous operation, the sensor nodes are solar-powered with a battery backup, ensuring 24/7 monitoring. Additionally, the system can be equipped with water control devices that can be remotely operated via the website, allowing automated or manual irrigation adjustments based on real-time soil conditions.

By leveraging this system, users gain reliable and efficient soil moisture management, reducing water waste while ensuring optimal growing conditions.

Expandable System

The system is designed to support multiple sensor nodes, all of which can connect to the central Wi-Fi gateway, enabling coverage of large areas. Even in locations where Wi-Fi is unavailable, the nodes can still transmit data using reliable radio frequency (RF) communication, which operates over distances of up to 5km. This extended range allows for flexible deployment across remote agricultural fields, parks, or other large outdoor spaces. By linking multiple nodes through the gateway, users can monitor and manage soil moisture conditions across expansive areas, ensuring efficient water usage and optimal plant health.
